This house was designed for a client who was looking for an informal country retreat, with light-filled spaces that provide a comfortable gathering place for extended family and friends, and also a home for a large and eclectic collection of furniture and objects. Public living spaces are oriented to the south, overlooking the pastoral site. A pre-existing "kit house" was remodeled and repurposed to serve as the library/guest wing. Personalized features include an heirloom niche for the family grandfather clock, a built-in "snore bed" in the master bedroom suite, and a wine cellar with tasting room.
